Hi I’m Renee, the artist behind Reverie Rose Illustrations. I am the proud mom of two beautiful cats, a fashion lover, a dreamer, and admirer of all things vintage. Currently I am based in the D.C. area but I previously lived in Amsterdam the capitol city of the Netherlands. While living abroad I began my journey as a live painter falling in love with the bustling streets of the European cities I visited and the artists that filled them. In Europe I encountered many caricature artists and live painters who captured their various muses while actively interacting with them. And while I had been an artist my whole life I was always creating locked away in stuffy studio classrooms or hunched over my desk finishing a term project. When I finished art school I was looking for a way to rekindle my love of the arts after being burnt out from all the rigorous training I endured. Seeing the lively vivacious way of portrait making that the European artists had adopted did just that for me & I have been a live portrait artist ever since.
I first got my start in the bridal world interning with a world renowned wedding planning company. This invaluable experience has given me a unique edge for live wedding painting as who best understands the hectic nature of weddings than a wedding planner herself? By Combining my two loves, wedding and event planning and art I am able to help couples and hosts immortalize their one of a kind events through my artworks.
When I first encountered live wedding paintings I fell head over heels in love. As someone with strong ties to the wedding planning world I have always adored being apart of peoples biggest and most important days. After all I am a true hopeful romantic.
Since getting my start in this world I have constantly looked out for ways to improve my craft. This innovative thinking is what led me to my one of a kind digital approach unlike any I’ve seen offered from my fellow live painters. in this industry, many live painters, specially in the guest portrait scene, paint the guests and give away the one of one copies. And while I absolutely adore this hands on exclusive approach, it left me wandering, what do the couples get? I wanted to make sure that the lovely bride and groom were as honored and cherished as the guests that i was painting throughout my live portrait process. After spending many hours brainstorming how I could do just that, I fell into my new method of portraiture. With my digital works I am able to fully customize each portrait with a loving message from the guests, as well as archieve each portrait for the bride and groom. This creates a unique experience for guests and couples alike with a one of a kind keepsake to take home at the end of the night and look back on for years to come.
